Growth has been the hallmark of Niagara Caps & Plugs since opening
its doors in 1953 as a manufacturer of injection-molded plastics.
Building upon our early success as a quality molder, Niagara's reputation
as a reliable and dependable partner expanded. We took pride in
being a privately held, American-owned company. Taking advantage
of a niche market for specialty parts, Niagara then developed a
proprietary line of industrial and protective plastic closures in
the late 1950s.
Today this expertise
is being expanded as we join forces with our sister company Caplugs
to offer an even
greater selection of injection-molded, vinyl dip-molded and extruded
products. We are proud to still be an American-owned, Western Pennsylvania-based
company where our products are manufactured in a state-of-the-art
facility.
With more products
to offer than ever, Niagara continues to provide just-in-time delivery
by warehousing over 300,000,000 items designed to cover, plug, wrap
and protect YOUR product during manufacturing, shipping and handling.
Protection that assures your customer receives all the quality you've
built into your products. And, for custom requirements, Niagara
offers complete Engineering, Design and Tooling services.
Niagara Caps & Plugs is especially proud to announce that in addition to
the prestigious QS-9000/ISO-9001 Certification has maintained since
1997 we are also certified to ISO 14001 (1996E), Environmental
Management System; and now ISO/TS16949, the harmonized standard for the automotive supply chain. Niagara stands committed to quality in both products
and environmental practices. The combination of Quality, Tooling
and Manufacturing makes Niagara your clear choice for product protection.

The following Quality Objectives have been established to help us accomplish our goals.
- Elimination of scrap and rework.
- Service that meets the Customer's expectations including 100%on-time delivery.
- Management of costs that benefit the Customer and Niagara Caps & Plugs.
To support the objectives for quality, a continuous improvement philosophy is deployed throughout the organization.
To evaluate how well the Company is meeting it's Quality Policy objectives, the Company will review key indicators at appropriate intervals.

In 1997, Niagara Caps & Plugs took the lead and at that time became
one of only a few thousand companies in North America to obtain
the prestigious QS-9000 Certification and, subsequently, ISO-9001
Certification. Since that time, our processes have been re-audited
numerous times and, without exception, we have successfully maintained
this certification.
What are
ISO-9001, QS-9000 and ISO/TS-16949?
ISO-9001 was created by the International Organization for Standardization
(ISO), which sets the foundation for quality assurance in design,
development, manufacturing, and service. Only companies willing
to put forth the effort to achieve accreditation can say they have
met the stringent standards set forth for "zero tolerance in manufacturing."
ISO-9001 has become internationally recognized for defining
quality standards. Over 143 countries have adopted ISO as the preferred
standard.
Based on the
ISO system, QS-9000 was developed in August 1994 by Chrysler,
Ford, and General Motors Supplier Requirement Quality Task Force
to standardize the fundamental supplier quality systems. QS-9000
is the development of a fundamental quality system that provides
for continuous improvement, emphasizing defect prevention, reduction
of variation and waste in the supply chain.
The success of the OS-9000 efforts led to a move towards the development of a globally accepted and harmonized quality management system requirements document. From this, the International Automotive Task Force (IATF) was formed to lead the development effort.
The result of the IATF's effort is the ISO/TS 16949 specification. ISO/TS 16949 forms the requirements or the application of ISO 9001 for automotive production and relevant service part organizations. ISO/TS 16949 supersedes QS-9000, which becomes obsolete in December 2006.
ISO/TS 16949 used the ISO 9001 Standard as the basis for their development and included the requirements from these Standards with specific 'adders' for the automotive supply chain. As a leader in the industry, Niagara Caps & Plugs has again demonstrated its commitment to quality by quickly adopting ISO/TS 16949 and its process-approach based methodology.
How do these
certifications benefit you, our customer?
It confirms that our standard of quality is second to none. Whether
you purchase a very complex custom-molded part or one of the thousand
different standard off-the-shelf items, you can be assured the quality
you receive will exceed your expectations.
Providing
quality products... It's what Niagara is all about.
